CooperVision has recently launched the second major upgrade to its popular, free OptiExpert™ app with the introduction of a toric calculator. Now in its third major phase, the app is available to download for iOS and Android devices and puts a useful reference tool in the eye care professional’s pocket, providing initial diagnostic lens suggestions from CooperVision’s product families; Avaira®, Biofinity®, Biomedics®, clariti® and Proclear®.
The new toric calculator provides an efficient way to calculate a suggested initial diagnostic toric contact lens for each patient. The practitioner simply inputs the patient’s most recent spectacle prescription and the app suggests those toric contact lenses which may result in fitting success and a satisfied patient. OptiExpert™ also takes into consideration back vertex distance adjustment and on-eye orientation whilst supporting any refinement required, based on the practitioner’s observation of the toric axis location marker.
This latest addition to the app complements its original functionality, which converts the Efron Grading Scales into an easy-to-use digital tool, and the app’s existing multifocal calculator; an ideal aid for the eye care practitioner seeking to transition their presbyopic patients into multifocal contact lenses.
The app also includes the ability to securely store images of the patient’s eye condition, facilitating easy comparison to other images on the scale and aiding accurate grading. Practitioners are able to add their own comments following each patient evaluation, allowing a comprehensive record to be compiled of each individual’s condition and any treatment prescribed.
Available in 14 languages and 33 countries worldwide, OptiExpert™ is actively used by thousands of eye care professionals every month.
