Southampton, United Kingdom, May 24, 2012 - CooperVision, a leading global contact lens manufacturer, has announced their Global launch of its Proclear® 1 day multifocal contact lens, making its debut at this year’s BCLA Conference and Exhibition.

Officially launched in the UK on May 28, 2012, the Proclear 1 day multifocal contact lens offers practitioners and wearers alike the ideal solution to their presbyopia needs. Be it fitting a patient who has presbyopia, or being that patient, Proclear 1 day multifocal lenses are designed to deliver excellent vision from any distance, without compromising on comfort.

Proclear provides a high-performing hydrogel lens option to meet contact lens wearers’ needs, delivering consistently clear and comfortable vision. While there are patients and ECPs who do not need or want silicone hydrogel material, for all the patients still in a standard hydrogel, Proclear is the ideal non-silicone hydrogel material.

Using PC Technology™, a material that attracts and maintains moisture, it is the only lens material approved by the FDA1 for the claim “may improve comfort for those who experience dryness or mild discomfort during lens wear”. Ideal in meeting the challenge of age-related dryness associated with presbyopia.

“With the Proclear 1 day multifocal lens we are offering simplicity in terms of lens selection and fitting. Plus, as prescription needs change, the adjustment process is effortless, meaning minimal disturbance to the patients vision, as well as shorter appointments and fewer follow ups”, remarked Rob Healey, UK Marketing Manager at CooperVision. “The lenses also offer natural biocompatibility, meaning they are made to imitate the cells of the human eye, resulting in a more natural visual experience.”

By maintaining binocularity Proclear 1 day multifocal lenses overcome the challenges of monovision. Treating both eyes separately, the lenses utilize different powers in each eye to improve vision, while sending separate uncompromised signals to each eye to allow the brain to produce a purer image.

Visitors to this years’ BLCA2 will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the benefits of CooperVision’s Proclear 1 day multifocal lens, and how this lens offers a comfortable lens-wearing experience, whether the lens is worn all day or part of the day.
